Recent information suggests that Belgium agrees with the current compromise. The position of Members of Parliament without individual statements, who belong to the Federal Government, has been changed to ‘Unknown’ pending further information.

De overheid heeft geen zaken met wat de burger in privéchats schrijft. Als dit wordt ingevoerd stevenen we af op een “big brothermaatschappij”. Recht op privacy is dan niets meer dan een vodje papier. In naam van de “vrijheid, veiligheid, gezondheid, ...” wordt chatcontrol voorgesteld als iets waar je toch niet tegen kunt zijn. Zo is dat ook, als de overheid natuurlijk 100% betrouwbaar is, helaas is dat een naïeve utopie. Chatcontrol is macht en op een dag ondanks de mooie intenties wordt het machtsmisbruik (cfr China en andere totalitaire regimes). Ipv miljoenen onschuldige mensen te viseren en te controleren moet de overheid inzetten op het opsporen van criminelen allerhande (kinderporno, drugs- en wapenhandel, ...).

Since it is hard to follow all public posts and news articles related to Chat Control, an extra set of eyes would be very helpful. For every member of Parliament, their voting intention needs to be confirmed by a publicly available source. You can find all members without known voting intentions here.
